We would like to introduce you to life of an artist, but this time not an illustrator, but a musician. Andreas Imrich is frontman of indie rock band Talkshow. In 2015, his band attended SXSW (South by Southwest) festival, that connects music, film and tech world in a multi genre conference. Your first album Kunst has an illustration as a cover. What was the idea behind the cover and by whom it was made?
The drawing was made by our friend Jergus, who is tattoo artist known as Corben Tattoo. The main idea came from an old byzantine painting. We like the icon of the hand, because hands always create something. Almost everything is created by hands at the end. Even our tunes. So this idea for the cover was brilliant.

 

Animated music videos are very popular these days. What do you think about this trend? Are you also planning to make one?
Yeah I like it! I like old animated videos and fairy tales. But currently we don’t plan any animated video.

 

How do you manage your daily life? Do you have strict regime?
Usually I wake up at 7am, start working on e-mails.  When I’m not at the office, I record demos at my place. We are like ordinary people, with job problems… Strict regime? I don’t think so. I’m traveling a lot, almost everyday in summer.

 

 

What are pros and cons of being freelancer?
Money always comes and goes. Freedom vs Routine. I don’t know. I never even start to think about it. I’ve never had a  job from 8am to 5pm so it is hard to compare for me. I’m happy at my job…lucky me!

 

How does your creative process of a new song look like? What is the starting point?
Starting point is always a moment, or a story.  That’s the main initiator. Then I start creating music, changing or transforming the idea in to the music or the melody. After that I start working on demo in logic pro. Usually I record the whole song. Later I send it to the rest of the band, we start rehearsing and everyone gives their own style to it. If we like how it sounds, we record it in the professional studio.  If not, we forget it. And it’s all over and over again… the same process.
